The Art of Barbering Exhibition

A group exhibition of photography, GIFS, video, drawing, publications and documentation focusing on how artists use barbering to explore and expose themes of gender, ritual, community, race and social healing.

Artists include photographer Hick Duarte from Brazil, whose razor-sharp images of freshly barbered youths have captivated both art and fashion worlds prompting editorial coverage and advertising campaigns; Brandon Tauszik from the USA exhibits intimate GIF portraits of Oakland’s African-American barbers. Cary Kwok, originally from Hong Kong now resident in London shows his signature drawings alongside documentation of Oreet Ashery‘s iconic performance Hairoism. Photographs from Paula Harrowing shot in Kolkota, India, document male cleansing rituals whilst jamie lewis hadley premieres his Blood on the Streets Exhibition.
